The recess is used to remove and insert the fall arrester, from the guide rail on I-type and H-type ladders, at the beginning of the climbing path.
A openable end-stop must be fitted above the recess to ensure correct insertion of the fall arrester and to ensure that the fall arrester functions safely.
An exit device must be installed at all other positions.
The attachment of a recess must be specified when ordering for the
respective segment must be specified. Unless otherwise specified
the recess is made 700mm from the start of the guide rail.
